(1)A frequently repeated statistic is that 80 – 90 percent of a project manager’s job is communication.
Whether or not that statistic is accurate, it is certainly true that a primary job is communication to project
stakeholders including your sponsor. Please read the PMI article “The Essential Role of Communications”
which is part of your reading assignment to help inform your responses. For this week’s discussion thread, I
want you to a response to the following questions:
Identify two or three essential skills you believe a project manager needs to have to be an effective
communicator
How important is a global mindset for communicating in today’s project environment? Why?
How can a project manager continue to improve their communication skills throughout their career?
Please note: I expect a minimum of 2 -3 paragraphs for your initial post complete with external references.
Your response postings are expected to be at least a full paragraph using cited material.
(2)This week, we have focused in on the execution and monitoring processes, and we have paid particular
attention to earned value management as a tool for evaluating performance. But after we evaluate
performance, we often need to alter the project in some fashion. This may require us to change the project
plan in terms of scope, schedule, or costs. As project managers, we need to work with our project sponsor
to determine the best course of action once the impact of the change is known.
Both in the Gray & Larson text and in the PMBOK Guide, we read about integrated change control. For this
discussion question, provide an overview of the importance of integrated change control (ICC), what the
process is, and what you have seen in your professional experience either work well or not so well as it
relates to ICC.
Please note: I expect a minimum of 2 -3 paragraphs for your initial post complete with external references.
Your response postings are expected to be at least a full paragraph using cited material.
(3)During this final week, we are discussing the closing and lessons learned processes.
For this final discussion thread, please provide at least three lessons learned that you will take away from
the course. This can relate to any aspect of the course, such as course lectures, assignments, readings,
discussions, etc. Additionally, be sure to address how these lessons will serve you in your career or studies.
Please note: I expect a minimum of 2 -3 paragraphs for your initial post complete with external references.
Your response postings are expected to be at least a full paragraph using cited material.
