A social problem

  1. Introduce the social problem and topic. Explain what makes this a social problem by applying the definition of a social problem including the objective and subjective components. Please refer to the link to “The Natural History of Social Problems” found in the Chapter 1 Module.
  2. Through research and outside sources, present the progression of this social problem as it has moved through the Four Stages identified in “The Natural History of Social Problems” link from the Chapter 1 module.Identify and define each stage, and then apply this stage to the selected social problem.
  3. Analyze and evaluate the social problem using one of the theoretical perspectives (functionalist, conflict theory, interactionist) presented in Chapter 1 of your textbook.
  4. Present suggestions for addressing the social problem and future implications.
