Creative Project Proposal Guidance
Art is uniquely human and tied directly to culture. It takes the ordinary and makes it
extraordinary. It asks questions about who we are, what we value, the meaning of
beauty and the human condition. As an expressive medium it allows us to experience
sublime joy, deep sorrow, confusion and clarity. It tests our strengths, vulnerabilities and
resolve. It gives voice to ideas and feelings, connects us to the past, reflects the present

Consider your responses to the works of art we have studied in class and those that
you have chosen to review in your blog.
You have discussed the artists’ intentions, and the message they wish to convey as
well as the medium in which they are working.
The final assignment will invite you to create and present a piece of art in any medium you choose. This assignment is a planning document.

WHAT do you want to do?
Choose a medium: it could be written or spoken word, performance art, music,
dance, video, sculpture with ‘found’ objects, photography….the list is endless!
WHAT do you want to SAY?
Your message could be as simple as presenting information for an event (if you decide to do a poster design), or it could be a more nuanced and complex message.
If you were to write a curator’s note about your piece what would it say?
WHAT are you going to do?
HOW are you going to do this project?
How long will it take?
What resources are needed?
Do you have the skills you need?
How much with the materials cost?
