Write a brief paper in which you review literature related to your problem question/issue. The paper is designed to develop an argument that justifies designing and implementing a program to address childhood mental health. Feel free to focus your literature review on specific areas that interest you. At minimum, your review should include at least 3 sub-topical domains (with a minimum of 10 citations per domain). Examples might include “youth wellness and volunteerism, community connectedness, cultural difference, or other domains of interest (e.g. homeless and runaway youth, mental health and drug use/abuse, adverse childhood experiences and resilience, etc.).
Let the paper take the following form:
Introduction (1.5 point):
Justify selection of this topic and provide a brief overview of the sub-topical domains you intend to cover (and why).
Problem (1.5 point):
State the problem and provide any necessary context to understand it. Make the case that action is needed!
Review Literature (10 points):
Examine research literature for each subtopic you have selected and provide an executive summary of that literature in narrative form. Include both in-text citations and a references cited page. Examples of how to write a literature review will be provided. At minimum, please include:
a. summary of relevant research findings on the topic and appropriate, constructive criticism of research (to help justify the creation of a program to address your topic);
b. assessment of relevant material that remains unknown about the topic (demonstrating a gap in knowledge that invites the new research/program development as suggested by the problem question).
Future Program Needs/Priorities (1 point):
Identify the specific reasons new programming is needed. This can be brief.
Conclusion (1 point):
Summary of paper, restate the problem, and reiterate the need for innovative programming to address.
