This report is commissioned to develop a business expansion plan to Vietnam for Australian Agriculture Company Limited (AACo), the largest integrated cattle and beef producer in Australia. The paper also provides an analysis and assessment of the current and prospective opportunities as well as challenges in Vietnam regarding AACo’s business. The recent years have seen Vietnam growing in its importance in Australian foreign trade as its economy develops. Besides, Vietnam has also witnessed emergence of an affluent middle class citizens with rising disposable income who are more open toward western cuisine. This, coupled with a rapid development of the country’s modern trade concepts, has lead to a significant increase in the demand for high quality beef. Given the small domestic supply and unstable foreign sources of Vietnam’s beef industry, AACo has more opportunity to establish its business in the country. It is recommended that AACo should take its initial step in Vietnam through cattle and beef exporting activities. This entry mode could be effectively facilitated through good brand awareness building, close relationships with appropriate distributors and rational pricing and promotion strategy. Global food demand is expected to increase significantly in the near future, driven largely by rising affluence and living standards in developing countries. This has led a shift towards higher protein diets and demand for red meat in the emerging economies of South East Asia.
