Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way, they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
1 Timothy 6:9–10, 17–19
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Genesis 1:26–28

Background Information
In today’s challenging economic climate, it is imperative for social work practitioners to understand the impact of economic sufficiency in relation to the overall well-being of individuals. Practitioners are instrumental in helping their clients address complex issues that are a result of economic policies, as well as other policies, that may have a negative impact on them. It has been said that money is “the root of all kinds of evil,” but the lack of money can be equally problematic. Although God may have created man to be fruitful, that is not the reality for a multitude of individuals and families throughout the world.
