Evidence-Based Research Application: Renal Diagnosis

Critique and Application Find a current, evidence-based article no more than 5 years old related to a renal diagnosis. Write a 2-page APA-formatted critique of the article comparing current renal research in primary care clinical settings (not hospital-based renal management or hospital based treatment) to previous renal information from your past clinical experiences or general pool of medical knowledge. Include 1 or 2 paragraphs in which you document how you could apply your evidence-based research findings to a real or hypothetical renal patient you may encounter in a clinical setting. An example of comparing is locating an article such as one that discusses Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). After critiquing the UTI article, you may want to compare how you were taught that UTIs are caused by poor hygiene in comparison to the UTI article you critiqued which found UTIs are caused by poor hygiene and also often caused by sexual intercourse where bacteria is introduced into the women’s urinary tract. Add how these findings can be applied to your real or hypothetical renal patient encountered in a primary care clinical setting. An example of application could be stating that in primary care practice, Nurse Practitioners should remind women they diagnose with UTIs to void before and after sexual intercourse, clean the genital areas before and after sexual intercourse, and to drink plenty of water to encourage voiding.
