• What are the ramifications of ‘fake’ journals or ‘predatory journals’ for academic publishing?
• What should the editor(s) and the publisher have done in these circumstances?
• Is it possible to produce an unbiased publication if it has corporate sponsorship?
• If someone suffers personal injury or death in connection with a publication that was produced irresponsibly/unethically, does the publisher have any obligation to the victim?
• Did Elsevier have an obligation to disclose to the authors of the articles printed in these journals, that they were being reprinted or included in a ‘fake’ journal? Would the authors have any claim/rights against Elsevier? Or, what if the authors were in on it, too?
