A. Visit an eating establishment of your choice. Find the establishment’s Sanitary Inspection Report from the Health Department. It should be prominently displayed. If it is not displayed, ask where it is so you can review it. You must see it; do not accept someone’s verbal report. State if the report was hard to find, or if the personnel were reluctant to show it to you. The public has a right to see the report. Number your answers.
Go to the Assignment tab and submit your report of the information that you gathered in word document to the Dropbox by 9pm on the due date. List your name and the Eating Establishment that you evaluated in the subject/topic line. Do not send me a copy via email. This assignment counts 13% of the final grade, so be specific. The grading rubric and point distribution are below.

 1.  Student’s name. Answers numbered; name and address of the establishment. (5 points)
  2.  Date of inspection and the overall inspection score. (10 points) 
  1. What problems were cited? (10 points)
  2. Do all or some of them pose a health concern to you? Why or why not? (10 points)
  3. Previous score and state those problems also. (10 points)
  4. Visit the rest room closest to the kitchen. Is it clean with adequate supplies? Describe your observations. (10 points)
  5. Can you see any of the food preparation area? Does it appear neat and tidy? Describe your observations. (10 points)
  6. Describe how the food is handled. (10 points)
  7. Do employees who handle the preparation and placing of food in containers, wrappings, or dishes wear gloves and hair nets? Describe. (10 points)
    1. Understanding that there is much that a consumer cannot see, and based on your
      evaluation, do you feel comfortable eating there, and why or why not? (10 points)
  8. Assignment must adhere to proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. (5 points)

NOTE: If you do not eat out, utilize the Atlanta Journal and Constitution newspaper for information on eating establishments in your county. Locally, this information is found in the Clayton/Henry Section of the Thursday edition under the heading Food Watch – Inspecting Restaurants (This section may not be in the newspaper every week).

  4. Do they pose a health concern to you? Discuss why or why not. (20 points)
  5. Based on your evaluation, do you feel comfortable eating at these establishments? Discuss why or why not. (20 points)
