Read Harriet Hanson Robinson’s account for your essay. In your essay, consider and analyze
the ways in which mill work for women transformed their lives both for better and for worse. Assess how the
spread of factory labor, regardless of sex, could affect the economics and social structure of the United
States. In addition, explain its historical significance. Use evidence in your essay to support your ideas.
Your essay must include your name, date, and title (of your choosing). It must be typed in Times New
Roman font size 12 with default margins, and double spaced. I will subtract 5 points if these instructions are
not followed.
You must include parenthetical citations and a references page. Your work should be in MLA format.
An essay consists of an introduction paragraph, at least 3 body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. I
will deduct 20 points if you do not separate your paper into paragraphs.
Your essay must be 800 words in length. It can be longer if needed. I will count of 20 or more points if your
paper does not meet the word length requirement.
