1. General instructions: The paper is about ‘% or 213 background of CCA in Oakland and responding to questions about the campus. The second half or last third can be about your particular building. Also I need a drawing of the space you are looking at. 3. Part one: Introduction to your space or building. This just says what your space is, what it is used for, its importance to CCA. 4. Part two: History of CCA (about half to 2/3 of the paper) 4.1. You have worked on this already. Use the assignment turned in and you can add to it via the material I have put on the website. This covers • History of the school, founding, early locations in Berkeley, histories of first professors and administrators, early establishment of the interior decoration program in 1907. • History of the campus at its current location, various arrangements of the campus, various buildings, and material on the surrounding landscape. – History of the school, student body, new buildings. – I will put material on line about this background. • How did the school relate to the Arts and Crafts movement—in terms of the curriculum and being located in a natural setting, the kinds of classes offered, and so on. I’d like you to take the question on quiz #1 today and rewrite it for next week to finish this part of the paper. 4.3. You may also want to add to this by answering some questions 4.3.1.1. Give a history of the interior design department and the importance of Isabel Percy. I will put this material up this week. 4.3.1.2. Imagine what it was like to be a student at the school between 1920 and 1980. 4.4. Your particular space: 4.4.1. You need to go to your space and draw it and provide a floor plan.
