(include the choice of piece you are analyzing in the title)
Your analysis should identify relevant aspects of the style of your chosen piece including aspects such as melody, harmony and rhythm; structure; instrumentation and orchestration; and how those relate to one another. You will need to (briefly!) place the piece in a relevant context to understand the relationship between the style and the specifics of the piece and of the composer.

Introduction To Analysis
Analytical skills are vital to creating successful arrangements and orchestrations of music in a diverse range of styles. The analysis portion of this modules aims to train students in analyzing the structure and harmonic vocabulary of the chosen musical works. But moreover, moving beyond Level 5 analysis, it focuses on analyzing the textures, instrumental combinations, dynamic balance, timbre and performance directions. This therefore supports students in their ability to critically engage with the score or audio recording of music they intend to orchestrate or arrange. Fundamental to the approach is that of raising questions, which revolve around the broad concern: how is this music put together? How does it work and in what way is it successful as a cohesive piece of music which develops logically?
You should also search for relevant sources depending on your choices for the analysis, arrangement, and orchestration assignment.

• Number all pages consecutively using the page numbering function. It is also advisable to include your name and student number in the header of each page.
• Use a standard, 12-point typeface, such as Times New Roman, Ariel or Helvetica.
