Write a short analysis (500-750 words, double-spaced) that explains how this visual image communicates its meaning to the viewer. If there is a textual component, explain its relation to the image. In your analysis, mention at least one historical precedent for that illustration’s particular style and briefly explain the connection between the two.
For example, if you have selected an image by Edward Gorey, you might want to discuss the influence of Victorian illustration both in terms of its particular look (i.e., the impact of architectural ornamentation on draftsmanship) and the context of its emergence (i.e., the Industrial Revolution). At the top of your submission, please reproduce the image of your choice with a complete caption.
