The two chosen images must be related to fashion design (a fashion garment).
The two images can be selected from two different Art and Design Movements (provided from the guide) or one
historical and one contemporary.
Historical Art movements must be either: Arts and Crafts movement/ Art Nouveau/ Pop Art
Contemporary Art movements must be either: Postmodernism/ deconstruction/ digital
Essay structure :
Paragraph 1 : Introduction (approx. 200 words): Introduce your subject clearly (the art
movements and artist/ designers). Give the reader a taste of the main points you intend
to discuss in the main body of the essay – in paragraphs 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Paragraph 2: Giving reasons (approx. 100 words): Why have you chosen the particular
artists/ designers work to write about? What’s the relationship between the work and
your pathway? What do you think is revealed by the comparison?
Paragraph 3: Select an image from the art movement to analyse (approx. 300
words): Give your personal interpretation of your subject. Use your reflective writing
skills here (use artist analysis help sheet). Compare your ideas and opinions to other
written responses found in your research. Good to use paraphrasing or short quotes
here (correctly referenced, see guide in VLE ‘Reading List’).
Paragraph 4: Select another image from (another) art movement or a contemporary
one to analyse (approx. 300 words): Give your personal interpretation of your subject.
