My close friend recently had gotten food poisoned after eating Chipotle. She became very ill. As time went
by she started to bruises on her body and would cough up blood. My friend went to urgent care and they
immediately transferred her to the ER. Turns out she has idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura aslo called
ITP, immune thrombocytopenic purpura. It usually happens after your body goes through a trauma. There
are two types one of them are temporary and the other is chronic. Usually when you get it in your
adulthood it most likely chronic. Her body went through trauma because she got food poisoning and her
immune system started to attack her white blood cells and will continue to attack the white blood cells so
her body is at war with itself constantly which leads to her having no energy and having to do blood
transfusions or she has to stay on steroids. I would like to know more about ITP and what can trigger it in
a healthy person.
