Consider two effective leaders from your present or past: A
parent, a coach, a pastor, a teacher, or maybe even yourself if you have been in a leadership
position. Then assess, and compare and contrast these leaders’ leadership style using the
Leadership Behavior Questionnaire and Scoring Interpretation at the end of Chapter 4.
In a 4-5 page paper, provide the task and relationship scores for each leader, and explain
what those scores tell you about the task orientation and people orientation of these
chosen leaders. Are your subject leaders more likely to lead emphasizing tasks, or
relationships? Give specific examples of your subject leaders’ behavior, to illustrate how
that behavior supports your assessment from the Style Questionnaire. Finally, what
improvements do you think your chosen leaders could make to improve their leadership
effectiveness?
