Description

Companies and business requires many different types of reports from their employees. It is a regular and
common part of business, education, sales, and other industries. (More information in Chapter 8.)
Scenario:
Your role: You are a corporate trainer for a well-known line of makeup and skin care products called Jeneuve.
The products are sold across Canada in department stores and drug stores such as Hudson’s Bay, Shoppers
Drug Mart, and London Drugs.
As the corporate trainer, a large part of your job is conducting training seminars across the country, once in the
fall and once in the spring. During these training seminars, not only do you train customer service
representatives (reps) in the retail locations about your new products, changes in current products, etc., you
also listen to their feedback about what’s working and what’s not, and take that feedback home to head office
(HO) in Montreal.
During your recent fall trip through Western Canada, things generally went well as you introduced reps to
Jeneuve’s new line of products for men, including Beard Oil, Beard Balm, and Beard Protector, as well as
products for women including Glitter-J tears, Juicy-J lipstick, and Colour-J eyeliner.
The reps in large cities like Vancouver and Calgary were more enthusiastic about the new products than the
reps in smaller cities like Lethbridge and Kelowna. At the same time, you heard some critical feedback from
your large stores in the Greater Toronto Area. One complaint is that Jeneuve does not offer a line of cosmetics
for women with darker skin tones.
Task:
After returning to HO after your trip, you, you are required to provide a detailed progress/status report in memo
format to your Vice President (VP), Sandy Fairchilde.
