• Contact the closest local chapter of either the National Association of Legal Assistants or the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. Find out when and where their meetings are and what kind of committees they support, when their elections are what kind of activities they are involved in, what their dues are, whether they have a newsletter or a job bank.
• Write up a report about your contact with the paralegal professional association in a memo format.

• If the local chapter is near enough to your home, visit the next meeting. Attend the meeting. Introduce yourself to at least three legal assistants. Take notes during your meeting, remember the working paralegals names, where they work and find out about their jobs. Tell them a little bit about yourself.
• If you don’t have a meeting near enough to go without causing yourself hardship then locate three employed paralegals via the Internet or by any other method.
