Instructions: For this paper, you will select one macro and one micro-level criminological theory and summarize how the theories that you selected have enhanced our understanding of cybercrime. You will also focus on the current sanctions for cybercrime and will provide recommendations for future cybercrime control policy and practice.
Your paper needs to be 12-15 pages in length (excluding title page, abstract, and references), typed, double-spaced and in 12 size Times New Roman font. Late assignments and assignments submitted via email will not be accepted unless prior arrangements have been made.
This assignment consists of the following major parts:
- Introduction and Conclusion (10 points)
a. Introduction: The topic is properly introduced; terms are defined b. Conclusion: A concise summary of the paper’s main points is presented - Overview of Problem (25 points)
a. The extent of cybercrime b. The costs of cybercrime c. Who are the stakeholders d. Common causes, motivations - Background of Theories (one macro, one micro) (30 total points)
a. Present the intellectual and historical background of the theories b. Summarize the main assumptions of the theories c. Summarize and evaluate existing literature (at least 6 peer-reviewed journals, 3 for each theory)
d. How have your selected theories enhanced our understanding of cybercrime - Sanctions & Future Enforcement + Prevention Strategy (25 total points)
a. Elaborate on existing sanctions for various cyber crimes b. Are the existing punishments appropriate?
c. Provide recommendations for future policy (cybercrime prevention policy) - Structure and APA style (10 total points)
