This website is owned by a “think tank” which helps educate state and local policy makers from all three branches of state and local governments as to the issues of the day. Most government policy which affects all of us on a daily basis occurs at the state or local level. For example, whether or not to lower or raise speed limits on city streets or the state’s* Public Utilities Commission to allow PG&E to raise utility rates affect us all every day. Whether or not the United States government, for example, prosecutes a banker for fraud does not directly affect us all.
After perusing the Governing website, select one state or local issue which resonates with you and explain why you think it is important to consider. Explain why this issue is best handled at the state and local, not the national level of government.
