Public health

Find a news report describing some recent health research that interests you, and also track down the original research article.
Briefly describe the research and why it is interesting to you. Make sure to include the disease and the exposure(s) that were studied.
Which risk comparison tool(s) were reported in the news article? Were these appropriate, in your judgment?
Were there any important confounders that the researchers did and did not look at? (Many articles will have a “Limitations” section where the authors describe unmeasured confounders, but there may also be some they didn’t think of.) If confounders were assessed, did they make a difference?
Did the news article and the research article characterize the findings in the same way? If not, what were the differences?
Do you trust the findings? Why or why not?
