Select a narrow topic from a religious tradition (other than your own) that you have always wanted to know more about (e.g., Meditation in Zen Buddhism, Songlines of the Australian Aborigines, Polygamy and Mormonism, The Concept of Jihad in Islam, Marriage and Moonies, Aum Shinrikyo, Shinto and Buddhist Teachings in the Way of Bushido, The Practice of Tantra in Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan Sand Painting, Promoting Good Health through T’ai-chi, etc.) and write a 3-page paper (750 words minimum) describing and analyzing the group/beliefs/rituals and its impact upon the surrounding community and beyond; be sure to narrow your topic as much as possible – you can check with me via email as well, but do some research on the topic beforehand. Gather data by conducting an extensive research of the religious group/issue, using books, magazine articles, newspaper clippings, reliable internet sources, videos, pamphlets, photos, interviews, etc.; make sure your sources are varied and recent; you must include at least three (3) reliable/academic sources.
