You will design a research based inquiry based on the work you did analyzing a text or phenomenon in the Analytical Essay. That is, to start, you will ask a specific question in regard to your material, and you will determine where you need to go and what you need to find to answer it. You will synthesize ideas and information from class readings and other sources, define your lens, and organize your paper using a thesis statement or question, while providing reasons and evidence to support your conclusions. I expect you to develop and organize your paper around your own argument, one that you have thought through and mapped out. This paper will not be a report on what your sources think about a topic, nor will it be a matter of you taking a particular side regarding an issue, or simply presenting your opinion about a topic.
Your inquiry will determine the types of sources you use, but in your paper, you will evaluate your sources, summarize them succinctly i n your own words, and follow proper citation protocols.
