presentations of the “real” with specific attention to how “facts” are presented and what kind of “rhetorical”
position the documentary film takes. That is, what kind of bias, inclination, or argument the film develops (in
favor of certain perspective/ action/ facts. It is possible that two opposing rhetorical stances develop in films
related to the same set of facts. We may see this in case of those who deny the facts of “climate change,” or
interpret them differently. Your task is to respond to questions posed in discussions by watching documentary
films with the purpose of analyzing the rhetorical stances taken. For this assignment, you are to select one
documentary film and write a 750-word (no more, no less)review of the film. You may not describe the film but
focus mainly on its presentation of the issues, facts, and perspectives.
