Brief Composition #3: “Rhetoric of Advertising” Submit Assignment

Description

Read Stuart Hirschberg’s article, “Rhetoric of Advertising” Preview the document(the download link appears here in the assignment description, but its location is the “Readings” folder in the “Files” tab of our course Canvas, for your reference).

After reading the article in full, you will compose a brief composition in which you engage in a close reading of the article in order to answer the following questions:

Does the author offer any opinions or express any beliefs in the article? If so, detail what those opinions/beliefs are. Does the author offer anything that you can identify as a fact in the article? If so, detail the facts presented in the article, and note if those facts were cited. Lastly (and most importantly), tell me what you think about the article. What was the most important moment in the text, in your opinion, and why? Be specific! Did you find yourself in agreement with the author? Why or why not? Be specific! At any point did the author challenge your own thoughts/beliefs? Why or why not? Be specific! What questions might you ask of the author, or about the subject matter, whose answers could deepen your understanding of what you have read?

This composition should be at least 500 words in length, and it should be in MLA format (note: if you need assistance with MLA formatting guidelines, here is a useful resource).
