We all approach the topic of the family from our own unique vantage point, defined and influenced by our history with specific family experiences. Sociologists also analyze family from a unique set of personal, theoretical, and contextual perspectives. Social science is ripe with theories about how the family is constructed, changed, and influenced over time and by culture. From Chapter 1 reading for this week, consider the major theoretical perspectives to be studied in this course (i.e., conflict theory, functionalism, etc.). In your post, explain which of the theoretical perspectives you find most useful in making sense of your everyday world or life. Do you think your personal experiences shape this? Referring to this module’s readings, which of the theories do you think are most useful for making sense of how families interact?
