The owner and chief executive officer (CEO) of “Just-In-Time Staffing” a mid-size healthcare staffing agency has decided to restructure the company to expand the ability to meet the staffing needs of today’s HIM department that is virtual and of the enterprise information management (EIM) landscapes at the start of the next fiscal year. • Construct a macro-level workflow process redesign for each position using the National Learning Consortium Five (5) Step Process:
o Step 1: Determine Boundaries
 Where does the process start? (beginning step)
 Where does it end? (last step)
o Step 2: Who are the Customers of this Process
 Internal and/or External
o Step 3: Map Out the “As – Is” Process
 Current state of the process
 Write one step of the process on each rectangular post-it note
 Place these on the map in chronological order (working from left to right or top to bottom)
o Step 4: Analyze the “As –Is” Process
 Places where work can pile up
 Place these on the map between the steps (or on the steps) where the process queues
 Document all the ideas of how to improve the process
 Place a √ on the steps that require a check/review
 Note all the Forks
 Count the number of steps, handoffs, checks, queues, and forks
 Step 5: Create the “To Be” Process
 Using the LEAN Methodology as outlined in the above link, identify and explain the removal of any potential waste along with the strategy to reduce waste as it relates to repetitive tasks, time and resources
