“BSN in 10” is an initiative that many professional associations and health care organizations have promoted to encourage registered nurses (RNs) to obtain a Bachelor’s degree within 10 years after initial licensure. Some states have also considered similar legislation.

Focus your discussion on the following:

Has your state board of nursing proposed such legislation?
How do you think nursing education should be changed to best prepare nurses for the needs of the profession and for health care consumers?
The BSN-prepared nurse receives education beyond his or her basic nursing program to include subject content on informatics, leadership, community and assessment, and others. Explain how you plan to integrate this new knowledge into your current nursing practice.
