You are to find three (3) peer-reviewed journal articles and write a 3- to 7-page, APA style paper about
what trust is, how you can lose it, and how you might be able to gain it back. Your three references are
to be uploaded as pdf files with your paper to the assignment for a total of four (4) files. You need to use
ECU’s Joyner Library online search to find relevant articles and when you find a journal article you like,
download it as a pdf. If the journal does not allow that, immediately email me and I will see if I can get
you a physical copy of the article. Otherwise, find another article to use. Do not procrastinate on your
paper assignments as weekends are a busy time and I may not see your email for 24 to 48 hours.
I am including below some links to assist in your APA style writing. Use this if you need help. Remember,
your paper is to have 1-inch margins, double-spacing, and a 12-point font. Because of today’s Internet
using a sans-serif font (Arial, Helvetica, Calibri, etc.), I request you violate APA style on the font and use
Calibri instead of Times New Roman. Your 3 to 7 pages is the body of the paper. You will also have a title
page, an abstract page, and a reference page. Please be aware that when I say 3 pages I mean three full
pages, not 2¼ or 2½ or 2¾, but 3 full pages. Here are the resources for APA style:
ACADEMIC RESOURCES
East Carolina University provides a number of supporting areas at no cost to assist you as you complete
your degree. Please be aware of and use these resources which are listed below when needed.
The University Writing Center (http://www.ecu.edu/cs-acad/writing/uwc/) is available to help you
become better a writer. Students can consult with trained writing consultants via email. The University
Writing Center has also compiled a webpage of student resources
(http://libguides.ecu.edu/c.php?g=543684&p=3725279) that help with citing resources, plagiarism, and
even writing parts of your paper.
Joyner Library has developed a list of citation guides to help you with citing research
(http://libguides.ecu.edu/c.php?g=543684&p=3725296). APA Format is the left column as you scroll
down the page.
APA Tutorial
This link takes you to an online tutorial by Harvard’s Graduate School of Education called APA Exposed:
Everything You Wanted to Know about APA Format but Were Afraid to Ask. There are 4 modules within
the tutorial: Basics, Citing Sources, Reference Citations in the Text, and References. It takes about 30
minutes to go through all the modules.
Another helpful resource…
Granello, D. H. (2012). Using APA style in counselor education. Retrieved from:
http://u.osu.edu/granello.1/files/2008/10/APA-Style-Handout-updated-2012.pdf Ohio State University.
Great resource explaining components of APA style. Please refer to APA Publication Manual (6th Ed) for
comprehensive information about using APA style correctly. http://supp.apa.org/style/pubman-reprintcorrections-for-2e.pdf. I would especially look at the sample papers.
