Woman for Vice President?
• As of early April, 2020, it appears likely that Joseph Biden will be the Democratic Party’s nominee for
President. He recently stated that if so, he will select a woman to run with him as a nominee for Vice
President. Who are some of the possible candidates he might choose? Who do you think would be a good
nominee?
• Find 6 – 10 sources or more. To do this paper, you will need to search news stories from recent months.
Also, look at the possible nominees’ websites. Some of them have more than one. Some of the possible
nominees are senators, so they have web sites for that role. Mostly those have “senate.gov” in the URL. For
example, Sen. Klobuchar has this one: https://www.klobuchar.senate.gov/public/ . Senator Kamala Harris
has a senate website AND a campaign website https://kamalaharris.org/
• Try to get sources from a variety of news sites. Some tend to be very partisan, either conservative, liberal,
in the middle, or extreme. I will post a link on Carmen to a web site you can use to figure out which sites
reflect one or another perspective or bias. If you can understand languages other than English, you might
also search for stories in the foreign language press.
• What kind of experience do these women have to bring to the position? What issues are important to
them? Are there other things about them that could be important, such as education, age, popularity? (
Perhaps consider: Which one would you like to see debate Vice President Pence?)
