include the pervasiveness of Western music, incorporation of world music into
Western music, disappearance and preservation of world music (ethnomusicology),
changing or homogenizing of national/cultural musical styles, the influence of technology, and the
impact on the production of musical instruments (skilled craftsmen vs. assembly
line/factory production). What do you believe are some of the overall positive
or negative impacts of globalization, especially considering the many different
perspectives of all those affected (classical and traditional performers, composers,
global audiences, instrument manufacturers, etc.)?
