You will be researching the many complex and interconnected global economic issues of our current world.
Explain three economic phenomena (e.g., effects of minimum wage on employment levels, global inequality, etc.) you would like to explore further in your research paper and why they are important topics to discuss.
Describe two primary sources you would use for each phenomenon and explain how they might inform one another or contradict one another in your research paper.
Finally, explain what methodology you would use to collect your data or evidence that supports or refutes your argument(s).
Three economic phenomena I am interested in exploring further in my research paper are the effects of minimum wage on employment levels, the impact of automation on job availability, and the disparities between global income levels. Exploring these topics is critically important as we begin to grapple with a rapidly changing economy due to technological advancements and globalization.
For my first topic – minimum wage – I could look into primary sources such as a report authored by the University of California Berkeley’s Center for Wage & Employment Dynamics which provides an analysis of historical wages across various states over time compared to changes in their respective unemployment rates.
The second source I could use for this topic is a review published by Harvard researchers evaluating the effects different local policies regarding raising the minimum wage have had on employment among teens which can help provide insight into potential trade-offs when making decisions related increasing wages.
Moving onto my second topic – automation impacting job availability – some primary sources I could look into include articles written by industry professionals highlighting successful case studies where companies were able automate certain labor intensive processes thus reducing costs while also increasing overall productivity; along with reports from public policy organizations outlining long-term implications such implementations may have within today’s workforce
Lastly regarding my third topic – disparities between global income levels – two possible primary sources might involve statistical reports compiled by United Nations discussing average incomes across countries/regions worldwide detailing comparison median values alongside other key indicators such Gini coefficient; along with comparisons old vs new OECD data showing how certain economies have fared since implementation austerity measures during 2008 financial crisis.
Once all data has been collected through various primary sources mentioned above then it should be analyzed using either quantitative methods if available or qualitative approaches more subjective information provided from articles/reports need evaluated. Once this process complete then results should broken down terms both numerical figures (if applicable) support overall conclusions made via detailed explanations offered within text itself without relying solely numbers alone
