It is a habit that can be difficult to break, however it can have very detrimental impacts on one’s productivity. As a nurse, procrastination has the potential to significantly impact my ability to perform effectively and efficiently.

As a nurse, procrastination has the potential to significantly impact my ability to perform effectively and efficiently.

The two main things I procrastinate on are studying for tests and completing paperwork. When I study, I often find myself wasting time making excuses or indulging my distractions instead of getting started with the task at hand. With paperwork, I tend to put off completing it until absolutely necessary which means I don’t always have enough time to fill out forms accurately and thoroughly.

My procrastination habits hinder my ability as a nurse in many ways. For example, if I’m not sufficiently prepared for an exam then my knowledge base may be insufficient and this will directly affect patient care decisions made by me as their nurse; similarly if important paperwork is filled out incorrectly or late then this could lead to unnecessary delays in treatment plans being approved by insurance companies which again would negatively impact my patients’ care outcomes..

To overcome these bad habits there are various strategies that can be employed such as setting short-term goals along with rewards for when those goals are accomplished; creating an efficient work space free from distractions; breaking large projects into smaller more achievable tasks; scheduling regular breaks during prolonged periods of work; forming positive relationships with peers who will help you stay focused; asking for help from professionals if needed; and finally setting realistic deadlines and rewarding yourself upon completion of those deadlines. All these strategies should help me move away from procrastinating behaviors towards healthier ones which improves both personal productivity and professional performance as a nurse
