Description

These are the requirements for the paper:
Chosen “Story”: Donald Trump’s father was a member of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK).
In a written piece of two or three (or more!) pages, do your best to thoroughly evaluate the truthfulness, accuracy, and reliability of your chosen “story.” Your evaluation should be critical, factual, and unbiased, and you should support your points with evidence. Ideas to include:
–Describe where the story originally appeared, along with the date. Track it back as far as you can. Who started it?
–Track the story’s path, showing how it traveled and was received, etc.
–Fact-check your story as thoroughly as you can. Explain what fact-checking sources you used (see the resources in “A Primer on Fake News”) and why you chose them. Can you confirm whether it’s fact or fiction?
–Consider why the story was created or told. What was the purpose of telling it?
–Consider why people may or may not have believed or accepted the story, and talk about the nature of that specific audience.
–Did social media contribute to or help the story’s spread? Explain.
–Was damage done because of the story? Discuss.
–Finish with a paragraph in which you reflect on the process you worked through and what it was like. You may comment on your topic, too. (This is the place to insert some of your own opinions if you’d like to.)
Give the facts (who, what, where, when, why, how)

  1. Your analysis should include at least two quotations or paraphrases, correctly cited in-text using MLA version 8. Any additional sources you refer to must likewise be correctly cited.
Note: including “access date” is not part of the basic MLA8 citation. Do not include it unless a teacher specifically asks you to. I am not asking you to.
  2. Set your paper up correctly using the MLA8 format. Add a correctly formatted Works Cited page to your paper. List the story you chose–citing its original location–and also list any additional sources you refer
