INEN 4396 Automated Engineering Systems Course Project
There are two tracks of projects you can choose from: 1) Design and implement an automation system; 2) write
a research paper or project proposal on the automation / digital transformation of an industrial sector/ plant/
process of your choice. Some example projects will be listed, you are more than welcome to come up with new
ideas or topics, please communicate with me if you decide to work on a project of your own choice. For Track 1
projects, please design the PLC program in RsLogix and submit the source code with the project report. Please
explain the program rung by rung.
Track 2: Choose a topic and write a research paper on Automation, Industrial 4.0, Digital transformation of an
industrial sector etc. Another idea is to write a proposal to digitally transform a company where you are a
trainee/employee. Here are some example project ideas:
1) Digital transformation for the midstream oil&gas industry
2) IIoT in Midstream
3) Warehouse Automation
4) A proposal to Apply Computer Integrated Manufacturing Transformation of XXX
