Background Information
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine. I will
repay says the Lord.’ To the contrary, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if your enemy is thirsty, give him
something to drink; for by doing so you will heap burning coals on his head. Do not overcome by evil, but
overcome evil with good. Romans 12:19-21 (ESV)
In the New Testament, what does Scripture teach about justice and how God’s people should deal with their
enemies or those who have wronged them? Scripture declares that ‘vengeance’ is the Lord’s. How does this
philosophy correlate to acts of terrorism? With this truth in mind, is it possible for any individual to claim a
terrorist act in the name of Christ?
