In the Celebrity & Privacy module, we looked at multiple sources that discuss how expectations of privacy change when we look at the role of celebrities and

public figures. For this discussion, choose a particular celebrity that you follow or are interested in. Note, this does not have to be the typical celebrity

(movie star, musician, etc.). It can be anyone with a large following or fan base. So that could be an athlete, a politician/leader, author, activist,

YouTuber, “influencer,” etc.

Describe the primary way that this person interacts with their audience/fan base. How do you or other fans get access to information about the person? Is it

direct, indirect? What platforms or media might you use?

Then discuss how this person feels about access to them. You might need to guess a little based on their interactions with fans or direct statements they have

made about being a celebrity/leader.

Then discuss whether you think it is important to have access to celebrities and whether or not they surrender some of their rights to privacy when they

choose a profession that puts them in the spotlight.
