Complex Humanitarian Emergencies (CHE) do often not get the same media coverage as Natural Disasters. However over the last decade or so CHE’s have become the most common man induced disaster. No much more so than on the African continent. This assignment is threefold.
1 – Describe what your understanding is of a CHE, as well as cite some examples that have taken place over the last 10 years on the African continent (10 marks)
2 – Responding to a CHE is often very difficult and complex. What are the dangers and what can be done to mitigate these dangers. (30 marks)
3. Describe the concept of Epidemiological Surveillance in a CHE – it’s importance as well are the common indicators that are monitored . Use a real CHE (with references) in constructing your answer to this question (60 marks)
