Description

Decision Support Systems
A DSS combines models and data to solve semi-structured and some unstructured problems with intensive user involvement. DSS is an approach that can improve the effectiveness of decision making, decrease the need for training, improve management control, facilitate communication, reduce costs, and allow for more objective decision making. For example, if your company was interested in acquiring another company, a DSS will help your company see a view of the performance of the companies you are interested in and thus make a better decision on which one to acquire.

To Prepare:

Consider what information you would need as a user or manager of information systems to participate in the design and use of a DSS or ESS.
Post an explanation of the information you would need, as a manager or user of information systems, to participate in the design or use of DSS or ESS. Explain why this information is necessary.
