1. Read this short article by Tanya Bass about ‘Exploring Female Sexuality’. (The article should be free,

you should not need to pay for it at all!) Pay close attention to the section in which she explain the Circles

Answer the following short questions:
a. Which circle do you think you are most knowledgeable about? Identify some specific sources that

helped you come to know about this particular circle.
b. Which circle do you think society has the hardest time talking about? What in your opinion makes us so
uncomfortable with this circle?
c. Choose one circle, and tell me how you have seen mainstream media (print, music, movies, shows, etc.)
represented this particular circle.
d. The circles overlap at certain points. Identify one human sexuality topic that you think requires
understanding from at least two circles in order to fully consider the topic

  1. Consider briefly the theory by Bronfenbrenner about the various interacting systems that are all around

the individual. Jones et al. has an excellent summary with great examples related to sexuality in their

article, pay particular attention to pg 129-133. (Again, should be free… look for the free download button,

or scroll downnand keep clicking ‘load more’) For those looking for a visual representation again…
e. The textbook gives a really short summary of the chrono system of how views of sexuality across

religion has changed. Jump ahead to Chapter 19 for a bit more. Briefly discuss one way in which you think

views of sexuality have changed across time and one way you think things have stayed the same?
f. Personally, identify and discuss at least one source in your micro-system and one in your macro-system

you think has had the greatest impact on your view of sexuality?
