For instance, in the case of Handyside v. United Kingdom (1976), the applicant published ‘The Little Red Schoolbook’ in Denmark and a translation in a number of other European countries. The book was primarily aimed at school children and included a chapter on sex education. Handyside was convicted of ‘violating national laws on obscene publication’, as per the European Court of Human Rights.
