Task: Please revisit the videos we watched on the treatment of Digital / e-Waste in various underdeveloped countries in Asia and Africa (links to all videos are at the top of the page). Additionally, you are required to watch the movie “Trash Trade” which is available on https://mediamatrix.tamu.edu/. Among other things these videos highlight the impact of globalization of the engineering profession itself. Please identify a particular theme in the videos that raises the most significant global challenge for engineers in the 21st century, in your opinion. For example, you can write about engineering’s direct impact on the environment, human health, sustainable development, resource utilization, int’l repute of the engineering profession, impact on standard of living globally and sustainability of rapid technological growth, etc.
Requirements:
1) Your response must clearly state:
a. the problem you identify
b. why you believe it to be the most significant global challenge for engineers in the 21 st century
c. specific ethical responsibility of the engineers in relation to the problem you have identified
d. at least two tests of ethical behavior which the engineers (or the engineering profession) fail because of the problem’s existence (see list of ethical tests on ecampusassignments).
