You have two options for this paper:
A) focus on a single passage (10-20 lines) in a single play. You can write on as few as 3-5 lines if you so choose!
You can look at these lines through ONE the following lenses
- How does the language establish the character?
- What does this say about gender relations?
- How does this section reflect a political ideology?
- How would this section be staged?
- Does this section fit with anything in Aristotle’s Poetics? Does it contradict Aristotle’s advice?
B) Analyze 2) theme/motif/image in several plays of the author. How does it function in each passage? Does it say anything about gender, politics, etc.? If you choose this option, you must discuss in detail at least THREE instances of this theme.
