DEVELOP A 2-PAGE EXECTIVE MEMO TO THE MANAGEMENT BOARD OF RANA PLAZA ON THEIR CLOTHING FACTORY COLLAPSE IN BANGLADESH.
In your 2-page executive memo, you required to answer the following:
1. State the key issue succinctly in ONE sentence that may be in the form of a question. It is important to discern a singular problem or issue that the board has to address rather getting
side tracked by specific sub-problems.
2. Your solution to the problem should be stated briefly in a paragraph, or broken down by numerical listing of important parts. A well-organized memo with sub-headings or in outlined
form must be used and is easier to read and normally will present your case succinctly. Most major points can be explained in one sentence. Supportive reasoning may take more than one line
but do not use more than three sentences to explain your reasoning.
3. Be sure to include proposed actions that the board should take. Your text should describe and explain the substantiating reasons justifying that course of action. You must explain the
basis for conclusion. (Hint: The proposed action should be direct sourcing.)
4. Usually there are alternative courses of action that have some merit. Try to identify at least one alternative course of action and specify why it is inferior to your proposed solution.
The following criteria will be weighted in scoring your memo and supporting analysis:
1. Problem selection. Does the memo focus on the most critical problem?
2. Consistency. Are the problem and solution well-articulated?
3. Quality of the analysis. Does the analysis demonstrate understanding and use of appropriate information, reinterpretation of facts as presented, testing of various assumptions
(sensitivity analysis)? In other words, your analysis must support you conclusion and recommendations.
4. Clarity of presentation. Is the problem and solution expressed clearly? Avoid using repetition and time-wasting diversionary clauses.
