The company Wilmersum AS recently changed owners. You are hired as an IT consultant to give expert advice. The CEO would like to use Microsoft based technologies in the company, so you have to use Windows Server 2016 and Windows 10 Pro for this task.
The CEO would like you to set up a “Proof of concept” (POC). In this assignment, the POC should be a small-scale setup to prove that your solution works. You will NOT deliver the POC, just the report (in PFD format, uploaded in Moodle). Use screenshots, explanations, references and proof in your report to convince the CEO that this solution will work.
You should not use more than two servers and one client in the POC.
Remember to comment on what you would do differently in the real-life solution compared to the POC.
Wilmersum AS has not used a domain model before. You can think of this as a new implementation of a company and do not need to consider any data migration.
The CEO has the following requirements:
• The system must at least handle 150 users. (The user list is added in materials).
• Need file shares for
o Common
o Accounting
• Access to the Accounting-share must be limited to the users in the Accounting department (“Accounting Coworker”).
• Internet website: http://www.wilmersum.as hosted on a local server.
• An FTP site available at ftp://ftp.wilmersum.as that allows uploading (sending files TO the server).
• Weekly deletion of files uploaded to the “upload-folder” in the FTP site.
• Automatic setup of disk shares for client computers.
In your report, add information about important features that have not been shown in the POC but should be present in the live solution.
Your report should have three clearly divided parts – Introduction, Main Part and Summary/Conclusion, where the introduction clearly and in detail, states what you will do in order to address the assignment tasks. In the Main Part, you should then explain actions, and the Summary/Conclusion should clearly be linked to the introduction – presenting findings and results in addition to a summary. Remember to cite your sources in the Harvard Style and also add a list of sources at the end of the document.
