Pursuit of Happiness Watched a movie “Pursuit of Happiness,” a 2006 movie directed by Gabriele Muccino and starring Will Smith, Thandie Newton, and Jaden Smith, among others. As you took notes, you started thinking about how the movie defines happiness—what philosophy/vision of happiness it conveys to its audience. In your essay, you will analyze how the film approaches the concept of happiness. This essay is an interpretive argument paper; it is NOT a film review (in the sense that your purpose is NOT to recommend—or not—this film to your audience). However, you are expected to reference specific movie scenes and characters to back up your analysis points. Since you also assume that your audience has not seen the film, it is wise to provide a brief plot summary in your introduction.
