to a history of colon cancer. Because of this history of cancer and the large segment of bowel that must be removed, Betty will need a temporary colostomy. Betty has received two months of chemotherapy
treatments.
Chemotherapy was stopped three weeks ago to prepare Betty for surgery. Within the last two weeks the
cancer pain has become so bad that she has stopped doing ADL’s and spends a large amount of her day in
bed. As a consequence of this sudden immobility and increase in pain Betty has developed constipation,
insomnia and extreme fatigue. Betty has also expressed that she is worried about the surgery and worried
about her appearance after surgery. As Betty’s nurse what would you do (implement) and say to Betty to
