Create a presentation you might theoretically use to do a professional development
session with colleagues. The fictitious PD is to be inspired by select course concepts. You will create and
submit a visual presentation (PowerPoint or Prezi, or other format as long as it’s easily accessible by the
professor) using the following outline:
Professional Development Presentation
Slides 1-3: Identify three course concepts (labeled 1,2,3) that you’ve found particularly interesting, useful, eyeopening, etc. and briefly define each (using language you might use to explain them to a colleague)
Slides 4-5: Based on your Concept 1, describe a classroom activity you might do in your own class (for
example, if your concept was “multicultural curriculum” you might describe an original learning activity that
infuses multiculturalism into your teaching).
Slides 6-7: Based on your Concept 2, describe a classroom activity you might do in your own class.
Slides 8-9: Based on your Concept 3, describe a classroom activity you might do in your own class.
Slide 10: Summarize the significance of what you’ve learned from this assignment.
REMINDER: THIS IS A PRESENTATION NOT A REPORT- SO THE FOCUS IS ON BIG IDEAS. HOWEVER,
THERE HAS TO BE ENOUGH INFORMATION FOR IT TO BE A USEFUL TOOL EVEN IF YOU DID NOT
ACTUALLY PRESENT IT. FEEL FREE TO BE CREATIVE USING VISUALS/CHARTS/GRAPHS ETC.
Presentation grades are based on the extent to which you respond to the prompts, the accuracy of your
information, and overall comprehensiveness.
Make sure there are no spelling or egregious grammar mistakes in your presentation. Those can instantly ruin
a presenter’s credibility.
The three course concepts are:
