Course Goal

  1. To enable students to understand the present formulations of social work practice processes and strategies with an appreciation for the historical development of the profession’s approach to helping.
    Learning Outcomes
  2. Define generalist social work practice and the varying roles of the profession.
  3. Explain how contemporary practice approaches have developed from earlier formulations in the history of social work practice.
  4. Understand and express the range of knowledge, the value base and nature of skills in social work and how they interact to form the foundation of social work practice.
    Students will:
    • Identify a historical – Pioneer Social Worker.
    • Explain his/her social work practice and their contributions to the profession.
