It is important that all work draws upon material found in the case study as well as academic theory and debates found through both sessions provided and additional reading around the case company and contextual circumstances. It is expected that the majority of the information in the case will be used in your analysis. The case you should read in order to complete the assignment is: “The ‘Pub’ — Decline of a British Institution: How the Brewers fought back.” It can be found on page 563 of your core text. The study allows students the opportunity to apply strategic analysis frameworks in understanding the impacts on, and related responses of the brewing industry, and in analyzing issues experienced by the industry. The case invites students to consider the environmental forces acting upon the industry at time of case and further into the future, as well as considering the current state of the industry and understanding the strategic choices made by those within it. A final portfolio entry should be a reflective piece. The reflective piece should be underpinned by relevant theoretical models and reading and should include the following:

  • Your reflections on your knowledge development in the strategic context • Your thoughts on personal development moving forward in the strategic context. • Your evaluation of; – Your engagement with module content – The content of the module and its applicability to your personal career/ life strategy These elements may overlap in your reflection so it is not expected that you will answer these questions logically in the order outlined. It is expected that you will use reflective and learning theory/ literature in your response. Each question is equally weighted. Each is individually marked and graded, and averaged (mean) for the final paper grade.
